Resistance | Hand-Painted Sculptural Composition

Resistance is a sculptural tribute inspired by Satyajit Ray’s celebrated film Hirak Rajar Deshe.

Led by Udayan Pandit, the composition captures the unmistakable spirit of the film’s resistance – the moment when fear gives way to collective courage and students begin to move together against oppression. The figures surge forward as a group, transforming the sculpture from a portrait of a single character into a scene of movement, solidarity and defiance.

The work draws upon one of the enduring ideas at the heart of Hirak Rajar Deshe: that authoritarian power may attempt to control thought, but questioning, knowledge and collective action remain powerful forms of resistance.

Finished in a restrained metallic palette with hand-applied highlights, the sculpture places emphasis on form, expression and movement. Each piece is individually hand-finished and hand-painted in our Kolkata studio.
